Curriculum at a Glance
The Classical Academy began in 2018 as a private classical, Christian, collaborative school, and is committed to providing a classical and biblically-based education.
We believe the Bible indicates that the education of children is primarily the responsibility of the family. The Classical Academy curriculum and school model is intentionally planned to tangibly engage the family and honor the role of parents in the education of their children. We teach all subjects as parts of an integrated whole with Scripture at the center. We aim to equip children for the future with methods that have proven successful for over 1,500 years and give them the tools to learn and think for themselves. Our entire PreK-12th grade curriculum is planned with this in mind, so that our very youngest are already learning the skills building toward an eloquent and confident graduate. Classical Christian schools frame their education in terms of the Trivium; three stages of learning. 1. Grammar K-5th - soaking in knowledge, memorizing a broad base of facts. 2. Logic 6th-8th - gaining in understanding, asking “how” and “why.” 3. Rhetoric (9th-12th) - bearing fruit in wisdom, applying and integrating subjects. The Trivium works through a progression that corresponds with a child’s natural stages of development. |
